Description of property
The Property: When we think of a typical Asturian Village Manor, we usually envision those made of stone and wood, often featuring an Hórreo (granary or storage barn). This magnificent manor house also surprises by having an adjacent consecrated private chapel, in excellent condition. Here, the parish patronal feast of Valles has been historically celebrated once a year. It is protected by an impressive Yew tree, the sacred tree which stands majestically between the Hórreo and the Chapel. The main manor house, built on 2 floors and a loft area, has on the ground floor a spacious kitchen, 1 bedroom (or small room), a very large living/dining room with a corner fireplace, a small adjacent room, and a full bathroom with access to further smaller rooms. The wooden ceilings are low giving the whole property much character and intimacy.
On the upper floor, there are 3 more bedrooms, a complete bathroom, a large living room, and a beautiful corridor with panoramic views of the valley. Additionally, the house has several small rooms yet to be renovated, offering additional potential for expansion. On the East side of the house are the old stables, on 2 levels of solid stone. This whole area of some 120 m² is susceptible of rehabilitation, either to add to the house or become an independent home.
The entire estate is flat and located in the heart of the village, making maintenance and access easy. In front of the estate is a very large buildable plot, sloping slight making it ideal for planting a vegetable garden, building a swimming pool, additional sports or chill out areas. The house is currently used as a temporal guest house and has a license as a VV-Vivienda Vacacional, making it perfect for a Guest House with high expansion potential. It could even house its own restaurant.
The Location: VALLES is a medium sized hamlet only 30 mins from the coast enjoying a microclimate just 270 mts above sea level within the municipality of Piloña. There are some 70 houses, 200 inhabitants and it has gained popularity over the past decade due to it’s very civilized musical association that organizes jazz, rock and blues concerts in the square every other weekend. Piloña is one of those places that you never get tired of visiting as it has endless beautiful corners to visit and many hidden gems. With villages that are a picture from another time, rivers that have made history, waterfalls, chapels to fall in love with and trails to get in shape. Piloña is a land of Asturcon horses and some of the best mineral waters you can find. It is also one of the great reserves of the European Neanderthals thanks to the important prehistoric findings in the Sidrón Cave.
Communications/Connections: The large market town of Infiesto is just 5 km from Valle. Public buses and a train line communicates this valley with the rest of Asturias. It takes 15 mins to drive to the motorway to Oviedo and 30 mins to Villlaviciosa on a very good road from where you can quickly reach the beach of Rodiles and the motorway to Gijón.
