Description of property
A home for a hands-on life. A Chan, Cerdedo-Cotobade.
This one is for the doers. The growers, the makers, the people who would rather spend a Saturday in the garden or the workshop than anywhere else.
A handsome stone house in the green hills of inland Pontevedra, built by a skilled canteiro and carefully restored, set on 2,800 m² of urban land. It is part of our own curated portfolio, found through our growing network across Galicia.
It suits a particular kind of life. One with space to grow your own food, keep a few animals, build a workshop or a studio, and work from home with the hills outside your window. If you have been dreaming of more room, more green, and more to do with your hands, this is the place to look closely at.
The house
Around 373 m² across three light-filled floors, joined by a beautiful staircase.
Ground floor: living room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, dining room, guest WC, and a bedroom with en-suite and walk-in wardrobe.
First floor: a second en-suite bedroom, a sitting room, and a master suite with dressing area, en-suite and balcony.
Top floor: two more bedrooms, a bathroom, and a third lounge opening onto a small balcony.
Five bedrooms, five bathrooms. Generous space for family, guests, and the projects you have in mind.
The land
2,800 m² of urban land, and a real invitation to use it.
A proper kitchen garden. Chickens. Vegetables you pick a few steps from the door. Room to raise a greenhouse, set up a workshop, or build a studio with good light to make and sell your work. Space to grow, make, work and live in one place, and to become part of the community around you.
A traditional hórreo already stands among mature trees and an established vegetable garden, so you are not starting from nothing.
This is land that rewards someone who wants to work it. It asks for energy and care, and it gives a great deal back.
Where you would be living
Genuinely rural, and still well connected. Ten to fifteen minutes to supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, a pharmacy, a health centre, a bank and schools. Pontevedra, with its lovely old town and trains to Santiago and beyond, is about twenty minutes away.
The Serra do Cando rises close by, a wild range protected under Red Natura 2000, with native oaks “carballeiras” along the rivers and open ridges to walk and cycle. There is a wakeboarding and cable ski club half an hour away on the reservoir at Fornelos de Montes. The Rías Baixas beaches are 35 to 45 minutes off. Vigo airport about 50 minutes, Santiago just over an hour, Porto under two and a half.
The climate is inland Atlantic. Green and humid, milder than you might expect this far inland, with real rain outside the summer, which is exactly why everything grows so well. Warm, mostly dry summers. Cooler, wetter winters, with the odd frosty night, but nothing harsh.
Come and see it
Some homes you only understand once you are standing in them, looking out over land that could be yours.
If this is the life you have been after, we would love to show you more.
