Doing some of it yourself
Trusted organisations and DIY guides
Good relocation advice should never come from just one source. If you would rather research and organise parts of your move yourself, these are the organisations we trust and recommend. And once you have narrowed your search to Galicia, we can add the local knowledge they can’t.
A charity we partner with
Age in Spain
Age in Spain is a registered charity that supports English-speaking people living in Spain, and it lists Galicia & Green Spain among its trusted partners. It gives independent information, practical guidance and support on residency, healthcare, pensions, benefits, legal and civil matters, care and many other parts of life in Spain.
We particularly recommend their Information Guides: practical, step-by-step guides with links to the official sources.

They also run an Infoline for questions, a Friendline of friendly calls with trained volunteers, and welcome volunteers.

Deciding whether and where to move
Spain RevealedPractical resources for people researching a move to Spain: a self-assessment on whether a move is realistic for you, a cost-of-living calculator, a guide to Spain’s 17 regions, and a Move to Spain masterclass. Best at the research and decision stage, before you commit to a place or a property.
Personalised Galicia guides
A guide made for you, for the places you’re considering

We don’t believe a move to Spain should begin with simply finding a property. Before choosing a home, you need to understand where you want to live, how you want to live, and whether that place will genuinely meet your needs.
The organisations above give you the national picture. Once you have narrowed your search to Galicia, and particularly to a specific city, town or village, local knowledge becomes extremely important. Using our on-the-ground knowledge and local network, we can prepare a personalised information guide for your circumstances, covering:
- a particular town, village or city
- lifestyle and the local community
- amenities and everyday services
- schools and education
- healthcare
- transport and connectivity
- climate and microclimates
- beaches, countryside and activities
- shopping, restaurants and social life
- property availability and the local market
- what it is actually like to live there
- the practicalities of settling into that municipality
We can also give practical, location-specific guidance on residency, healthcare registration, the padrón (empadronamiento), utilities and the other settling-in steps. Requirements, offices, appointments and local practice vary between municipalities, and knowing where to go, what to take and what to expect saves a great deal of time and frustration.
