The Property: This delightful, family-operated hotel commenced operations in July 2000 and has consistently achieved success each season. The current owners are selling due to retirement. The property enjoys a stunning location on the tidal estuary, La Ría de Villaviciosa, designated as a Nature Reserve, making it a haven for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. The morning sun floods the breakfast room strategically designed on the East side, with a capacity for approximately 40 people and a direct access from here on to the pristine lawn. The grounds provide private parking for around 16 vehicles. The hotel is equipped with a spacious industrial kitchen, guest WC, laundry facilities, a central heating service room, a sizable basement (serving as a large multi-function room, once a bar, leading internally up to the kitchen area, with further guest WC, a storage room, and even a cider press area (the owners have always made their own cider !!) Additionally, there are two separate buildings: a self-contained bungalow, ideal for owner’s accommodation with two bedrooms, one bathroom, and a kitchen, all well-lit and airy. In front of the bungalow, there’s a terrace and a vegetable garden. The granary building (Hórreo/Panera) has been transformed into an open-plan loft-style dwelling. Two access gates from the main lane offer both public and private parking. The village chapel, church, and community hall are just a short stroll away. Given its fantastic coastal location in central Asturias and its house-restaurant ambiance, this property is indeed an ideal year-round business that can adapt to various concepts, catering to the increasing demand from international clientele visiting this area, particularly during the low and mid-season as an alternative to city hotels. The Location: Villaviciosa is easily accessible by a short drive on well-maintained roads, approximately 10 km away, and the charming historical fishing port of Tazones is about 8 km distant. Across from the hotel, there’s a private yacht club featuring a restaurant, swimming pool and tennis club. The small port of El Puntal, offering kayak rentals and within walking distance 2 further restaurants and 2 beaches that enjoy amazing sunsets.
Communications/Connections: There is an ongoing project for a cycle path connecting the village of Villaviciosa to El Puntal. Until such time, both the village and the port of Tazones are reachable by foot directly from the hotel via the hills, along a picturesque, designated route (Ruta de Carlos V – Villaviciosa-Tazones). The public bus service from Villaviciosa has a stop at the bottom of the lane, approximately 200 meters from the hotel, and there are excellent taxi services in the area. The town with all amenities is a 10-minute drive away, Gijon is just over 25 minutes, Oviedo is 45 minutes, and Oviedo Airport is a pleasant 50-minute drive.
